Is it typical for kids not to get their final grades until a week or more after school is out?

elementary schools here send grades home in backpacks. but my daughter still hasn't gotten middle school grades after almost a week of summer vacation. normal? i don't want to be the crazy mother calling the school to see why she didn't get them if that's a normal and expected delay.
