What would win in a race, a comparably priced car or truck/SUV?

My friend is a truck/SUV fanatic and tried to argue that a comparably priced SUV/Truck would "smoke" a car when i bitched that during a hurricane-level storm an suv was driving like a prick cutting cars off because this was the "one time" he can actually out-drive anyone.
