Do i HAVE to put Dexcool coolant in my 1999 Buick Century 3100 3.1L engine?

You dont have to use dex cool, the all makes/all models will be fine. As far as the light, after filling the cooling system tap on the overflow bottle on the bottom. The sensor has a tendancy to get stuck which causes the light to stay on.
